The beautifully restored Victorian home, built by Englishman George Evans in 1885, served until a few years as the mountain retreat of the Fairfax publishing family. The lush property features tall conifers, English chestnuts, rhododendrons, camellias, rose gardens, a duck pond, and a croquet lawn. Landscaped terraces surround the championship tennis court, with its quaint shelter, while a verandah makes an ideal spot to enjoy the mountain air

Each of the four upstairs bedrooms has its own bath, one en suite, and overlooks the enchanting grounds. Downstairs, two comfortable living rooms are furnished with antiques and plump sofas. A fireplace warms one of these rooms, and an open fireplace is found in the elegant dining room.
Currently serving as a bed-and-breakfast inn, Balquhain Manor House is located one kilometer from Blackheath Village and is close to the spectacular views and bushwalks of the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park.
